Updating cPanel Contact Information
Updating your cPanel Contact Information allows for reminder email notifications to be sent to you regarding certain cPanel functions. This feature allows you to change your primary contact email addresses. These email addresses will act as the main contact points for notifying you of new information regarding your website.
Video Tutorial Helps are available by using the menu on the left and clicking the links.
Your cPanel account can notify you for various reasons concerning your account such as disk and bandwidth quota(s) notifications.
It is recommended that you use an email address not affiliated with your website, as this could be useful if your website’s email stops working. A second contact email address can be added, if you prefer.
Updating Contact Information
- Login to your cPanel account (Click here for information on Accessing Your cPanel and cPanel Login)
- On the cPanel interface, click the "Update Contact Info" icon located in the Preferences section
- The Contact Information & Preferences page will load, complete the first email field with a preferred primary email address
- You may complete the second email field with a preferred alternative email address
- In the "Contact Preferences" section, check the preferred notification checkboxes and click "Save"
The series of checkboxes in the "Contact Preferences" section located below your email address(es) will determine the email notifications that you will receive when contacted. An email can be sent when:
- Reaching your disk quota
Disc Quota refers to the disc space use maximum threshold. A Disc Quota warns that your website is close to reaching the maximum amount of disk space that it is allowed. A full disk quota results in you being unable to modify existing files or add new files to your website. Deleting old or unused files or upgrading your hosting plan will resolve this issue.
- Reaching your bandwidth quota
Bandwidth Quota refers to the bandwidth use maximum threshold. A Bandwidth Limit warns that your website has received the maximum amount of traffic that it is allowed. When your maximum bandwidth has been reached, people will no longer be able to access your website. Upgrading your hosting plan will resolve this issue or you must wait until the bandwidth limit is reset (this usually occurs at the end of the month).
- Reaching your email accounts quota
Email Quota refers to the email storage capacity maximum threshold. An Email Quota warns that one of your email addresses is close to using the maximum amount of disk space it is allowed. Deleting old email, resetting your email quota threshold higher or upgrading your hosting plan will resolve this issue.
